Under 15s win Challenge Cup

BASMJ-u7-1-2St Mary’s Under 15 Aces won the Challenge Cup on Sunday 25th May, when they beat Billingham 2-0 at the TJFA Finals at Hurworth.

Three more teams were in cup finals on the same day but unfortunately, despite some great performances, didn’t take their chances.

The U10 Kings came up against a determined Greatham and were confident after beating them twice this season in the league, but lost 3-1 in a game with chances at both ends.

The U11s also came up against a very good Marton side, but it was Marton who took the cup with a 3-1 win.

The U13s came up against Norton & Stockton in the League Cup Final and, in a good competitive game, it was Norton who came away with the cup.

The U9 Kings played in their 3rd tournament in 3 weeks and came away with the cup.

The U15 Kings were presented with the Second Division Cup at the recent TJFA awards night, after getting promoted to the First Division. The team scored 84 goals with Sam Parnaby scoring 34 and Gareth McMahon 27, winning 11, drawing 3 and only losing 2 games in the league.

The U7s presentation night also took place recently, when Chairman Steve Coulthard presented the players with the Winter League Trophy.

The team was unbeaten all season which has never been done before at that level at St. Mary’s.

Tickets are now available for the Phil Thompson World Cup Sports Night on Friday 27th June, along with top comic Brendan Healey.

Tickets are £20 each and are available from Etherington’s Newsagents, from Steve on 07968 426 817 or from www.basmj.net.
