County Durham’s visitor economy has continued its strong upward trajectory, with the latest independent tourism figures showing visitor expenditure rising to £1.48 billion during 2025, an increase of 8% compared to the previous year, marking three consecutive years of record-breaking results for the county.

Shildon Town Bowling Club held their second monthly club competition of the year on Saturday June 6 which was the Les Wilson Trophy (3 wood drawn singles – round robin) 

For Sue Reece it is “that desire to give something back” that prompted her to join the Town Council in 2024 and be an active participant in community engagement. Now, two years later, she has been elected as the Chilton Mayor for the second time.
