Having launched its Members Initiative Fund (MIF) in April 2022, Ferryhill Town Council has to date been able to support twenty-eight local groups and forty-nine projects through the scheme.
The latest group to receive funding is Little Treasures autism charity, who recently attended a presentation at Ferryhill Town Hall where Councillors Carole and Peter Atkinson presented a representative of the group, Clare Wilkinson, with a cheque for £550 from their own and Cllr Christine Woods’ individual MIF Allocations.
Funding will be used to help cover the charity’s ongoing running costs.
Little Treasures is a volunteer run charity offering support for autistic children and adults right across the North-East.
The charity offers a range of workshops, social activities, trips, and recreation facilities throughout the year, including Stay & Play Sessions, incorporating specialist and sensory play equipment.
Sessions take place at Dean Bank and Ferryhill Literary Institute.
In a joint statement Cllrs Peter and Carole Atkinson and Christine Woods said: “We are delighted to be able to support Little Treasures by contributing monies from our MIF allocations to help cover the charity’s ongoing running costs.
“The Charity offers a fantastic service, providing a range of activities and advice for families in a safe and secure environment, helping to fill the gap in service provision in the region, to support families who have received an autism diagnosis.”
