Auckland Chilton Croquet welcomed the Alnmouth Reds to Chilton on a day where the weather could (and did) change in a flash, writes Richard Peck. Alnmouth started the better before ACC kicked up a year and finished the match the strongest.
This was the final Croquet North Division One match of the season for ACC and we needed to finish the campaign in style.
And we did this by beating Alnmouth 11 hoops to 7.
Congratulations to Jane, Carol, John and Norman on their efforts. And thank you to the other players who have taken to the lawns this year: Marcia, Jean, David, Margaret and Eugene.
But that’s not it for croquet this year, we’re still out practicing on a Wednesday, Friday and Sunday afternoons from 2pm until 4pm-ish, and we’re always on the lookout for new players.
Whether you’ve played croquet before or you’re new to the sport, come down and have a go. It’s free for your first two sessions and after that we charge £5 per two-hour session. All you need to do is wear flat shoes and bring a waterproof jacket and hat and we’ll do the rest.
We play at the Miners’ Welfare Recreation Ground which is at the rear of the Jet petrol station off the roundabout on the A167.
