Blind Life in Durham, the charity that supports people in the county who are blind or partially sighted, is seeking compassionate volunteer drivers to help them in their mission to enhance the lives of visually impaired and blind individuals.
“By volunteering, you will make a difference to your community,” said Jo Ede, adding, “Your driving can be a lifeline, connecting clients with valued social events.
“You will also forge lasting relationships with extraordinary individuals and become part of a supportive community.
“Flexible arrangements can be made around what volunteers can offer.
“Whether you can spare a few hours a week, or a month, your time can transform lives.”
As a volunteer driver you will:
Provide a safe and reliable transportation service for members;
Assist passengers as needed, offering a friendly and respectful experience;
Co-ordinate with the team to schedule rides that will fit with your availability;
Receive reimbursement for your mileage expenses;
Be part of a dedicated team;
Be able to join in with any events, if you wish.
