Old Shildon Homing Society has held two race meetings over the past fortnight.
The first race saw birds liberated at 11.05am on Saturday 16th August in Newark, Lincolnshire. The firstt to finish belonged to J. B. Younghusband and arrived back at 1.20pm. Birds belonging to J. B. Younghusband also finished 2nd, 3rd and 6th. A bird owned by M M Peacock and T. & J. Brown finished in 4th, while one of Gary Bros’ birds finished in 5th.
The second race saw birds liberated from Peterbrough at 7.10am, some 153 miles from the finish. The first bird returned home at 10.26am, and was also owned J. B. Younghusband, whose birds also finished in 3rd, 5th and 6th. One of Horner and Daines’ birds finished 2nd, while a bird belonging to M M Peacock and T. & J. Brown finished 4th.
