Following a successful campaign to advertise its vacant properties, Ferryhill Town Council has welcomed a new business to the town.
Rebecca Eldrett and Alyssa Findlay who are the owners of R&P Flower House have taken on a lease for the Chapel at Duncombe Cemetery, as a base for their floristry business.
Previously based in Ferryhill town centre, where Rebecca shared a business premises with her lifelong friend Alyssa, the pair decided the time was right to expand their business and take on a premises specifically for their flower business.
Following a viewing of the chapel at Duncombe Cemetery, Rebecca and Alyssa instantly felt that this was the right setting.
Rebecca and Alyssa are continuing to expand their customer base and feel that the premises will give them the flexibility to continue to do this.
Councillor Angus Ferguson, the Mayor of Ferryhill Town Council was invited to attend the opening of R&P Flower House, where he met the business owners and their daughters, Rubie and Poppy, after whom the business is named.
The Mayor said: ‘It was a privilege to attend the opening of this fantastic new business and to meet Rebecca, Alyssa, Rubie, Poppy and their families.
These two entrepreneurs are just the sort of people that Ferryhill needs, and I encourage everyone to pay them a visit at any time and especially when visiting Duncombe Cemetery.
Leeanne Owens, Town Clerk for Ferryhill Town Council said: “I am excited to have the flower business on board within the cemetery grounds and I feel that this is a perfect setting for this type of business.
“It is lovely to help local businesses and see them thrive and I am pleased that we have been able to support Rebecca and Alyssa with the space we have available.
Rebecca and Alyssa said: “We are absolutely delighted to continue our floral journey within the cemetery.
“We can’t wait to work closely with the community and hope to bring comfort, joy and beauty to every space we touch as we create the very best blooms.”
