The Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group’s (GACSG) next coffee morning at the Chilton Catholic Club will be held on Wednesday 19 March from 10am to 12 noon, writes secretary, Marianne Short.
We welcome everyone from the surrounding area to come along and enjoy a cuppa and cakes, and to find out how the charity has been supporting cancer patients across the local area.
GACSG, as a local charity, supports anybody within Newton Aycliffe and surrounding towns and villages who have been affected by cancer.
This much needed local charity now has two shops open during the week: in Newton Aycliffe town centre opposite Savers and in Darlington, opposite the entrance to the Cornmill Centre.
Within the Aycliffe shop is an information hub for anyone who has received a cancer diagnosis, is living with cancer or receiving treatment for cancer.
Services provided by the charity include:
- Providing information on issues affecting cancer patients.
- Patient transport.
- Influencing cancer services in the future.
- Regular social activities with others affected by cancer.
- Assistance with benefits claims.
- Day trips, social events, meals out.
- Confidential and emotional support in a safe and friendly environment.
- Use of our holiday caravans.
