The Middle Distance, Sprints, Senior and Under 11 groups have all been busy recently. On Sunday June 29th at the North East Youth Development League in Darlington, athletes from both Middle Distance and Sprint groups were in action. Rachel Bennett managed a double league record and England Athletics grade 1 run in the 100mtrs and 200mtrs Under 13 Girls. Leah Rutherford also ran well in both 100mtr and 200mtr races as did Amyleigh Hutchinson in the 100mtrs. In the Under 13 Girls 1500mtrs Chloe Fairclough ran a PB in 5.40.6.
The Girls Under 13 long jump saw Amyleigh Hutchinson leap 3.41m whilst Leah Rutherford jumped an impressive 3.77 and Chloe Fairclough 3.20m.
The Under 13 girls 4×100 relay saw Chloe Fairclough rise to the call, proud to run alongside much faster sprinters Leah Rutherford, Rachel Bennett, and Madison Wells finishing 2nd but with the first 3 teams all having the same time of 58.1.
Jade Hepple came 2nd in the U15 Girls 75mtr Hurdles and long jump. Courtney Mills came first in the 100mtrs achieving a grade 4 standard and a league record in the 200mtrs Under 15 Boys Ethan Crawford achieved grade 2 standard and 3rd position for the 100mtrs and a grade 4 in the 200mtrs. Ethan also competed in the long jump, leaping 4.61.
In the U15 boys 1500mtrs, Cameron Stainsby and Ryan Watson ran good races but a little slower than their PB’s.
The British Milers Club meeting on Monday the 30th June saw Lizzie Cramb achieve a Grade 1 standard and new PB in the 800mtrs at Durham’s Maiden Castle track.
At the North Yorkshire & South Durham League on July 1st in the Under 11’s, Ben Etherington ran a PB in the 75mtr sprint. He and Jay Etherington also leaped to PB’s in the long Jump. In the Under 13 Girls 100mtrs Leah Rutherford finished 4th whilst Chloe Fairclough ran a New PB. Chloe also ran in the 800mtrs where she missed out on a PB by 2 seconds.
Both Girls Jumped well in the long jump with a new PB for Chloe (3.40) and Leah jumping 3.74m.
Both Cameron Stainsby and Harrison Daglish ran the 800mtrs in good times, Cameron managing a new PB grade 4 standard.
Middle Distance runner Chloe Fairclough took her tour of North East parkruns to Newcastle’s town moor and smashed the Girls under 11 record by 1 min 50 seconds to 21.13, a New PB, and was the 2nd female finisher in 59th position out of 350 park runners.
The Senior group also had a busy week of race events, first on June 28th was Hamsterley Forest, where Ian Rudge ran another Marathon, his 3rd this year so far in a time of 4 hrs 12 minutes. Several members ran 11 miles, Dave Beadle in 1hr 27.49, Donna Dunbar 1hr 43.43, Jayne Heron 1hr 45.59, Helen Race 1hr 48.34, Hazel Johnson 1hr 48.58, Irene Ross 1hr 48.59 and Julie Cane in 2hrs 1 minute. Steve Minns and Gareth Shaw competed in the Stanhope 10K fell race, in times of 61.30 and 62.34 respectively.
On the 2nd of July at the Darlington Pit Stop 10k Lizz Wood was the 7th female home in a new PB time of 43.13. Emma Flynn also had a new PB of 65.51.
On Sunday at the Hamsterley 10k, Chris Griffith came in 41st in a time of 44.44, next was Gary Bainbridge in 136th place in a time of 52.59. Completing the team was Philip Crow who finished 143rd in a time of 53.19. There were 265 runners competing the undulating course.
