At Hackworth parkrun on Saturday 27th September Joshua Wraith re-wrote the under 11 boys record which he had taken from his brother Thomas only last week. This week Joshua crossed the line in a time of 21:03 whilst twin Thomas completed the undulating 5k course in 21:51.
Gareth Preston completed his 41st parkrun this week and set a new PB time of 21.23.
The club’s first female finisher was Elizabeth Wood in a time 21.43 and not far behind her was Eddie Murphy in 21.49, followed by Chris Griffiths in a time of 22.12.
Tackling her first parkrun after a well earned period of rest and recovery following a minor injury, Chloe Fairclough was next to cross the line in 22.23.
Parkrun regular Gary Bainbridge gave an excellent account of himself finishing in 24.14 and Hazel Johnson also marked her return to parkrun after a period of injury with time of 33.20
It was also a fabulous weekend for the Shildon members who ran in some longer races.
David Beadle made the trek to Sheffield to run in the Great Yorkshire 10k and finished it in 45.40.
A number of athletes took on the Redcar Half Marathon. Chris Griffith completed the course in a fantastic time of 1hr 35mins and David Johnston ran an excellent time of 1hr 42mins.
After only taking up running 6 months ago, new member Stacey Jones ran her race in 2 hrs 8mins and there was a new PB for Emma Flynn as she raced around in a fabulous time of 2hrs 45mins. “Well done to all the runners and a big thank you to all of our supporters,” said a spokesperson.
