Many of Shildon Running & Athletics Club’s U11 group took to action in the 4th and final Monkton Minors indoor meet last weekend. The U11g’s events saw Chloe Fairclough earn a bronze medal over 600m in a pb of 2m 21.9s and finish 3rd in heat 1 of the 60m (10s). While the improving Amy Leigh Hutchinson ran a pb of 9.5s to finish 2nd in her heat, which qualified her to run in the race 2 final where a time of 9.7s earned her 3rd position.
While over in race 1 of the u11g Leah Rutherford made her seasonal debut after suffering a broken ankle back in November. Leah ran in heat 1 of the 60m where a time of 9.4s earned her 2nd place, which she improved to 9.1s (pb) in the race 1 final to earn well deserved bronze medal. Also in race 1 of the 60m, Izzy Cullen recorded a time of 11.1s to finish 2nd in heat 3.
The U10g were represented by Kayleigh Readman who recorded a pb of 9.5s to win her 60m heat and went on to break her pb again (9.4s) in the final to take home the gold medal. Kayleigh completed a busy day in the 450m, by finishing 4th in her heat in another lifetime best of 1m 49.8s.
Over in the u11b’s Leighton Oliver Ince recorded a time of 12.1s for 3rd and Adam Hanby ran 10.4s to finish 2nd in the 60m sprint heats. Leighton went onto run a pb in the 600m (2m 45.5s), while Adam finished in 2m 33.6s. Harry Cullen was the 1st of the u9 boys in 60m action recording a time of 10.7s and Harry went on to finish his 300m heat in 1m 6.9s
While at Birmingham in the British Inter Counties Cross Country Championships, Lizzie Cramb was representing the North East. Lizzie completed the 4k course in 20m 54s to earn 194th position.
Over in the senior group Graeme Nicholson tackled the Haweswater Half Marathon finishing in 202nd place.
While on the 8th March, Hackworth Park celebrated its 1st birthday with a bumper turnout. Ryan Watson lead the Shildon athletes home followed by Edward Murphy in a new pb of 21.47s, Elizabeth Wood (21.49s) who also recorded a pb to finish 2nd female, Gary Bainbridge, John Gray, the Ross family (Shannon, Paige and Irene) and Pat Edwards.
