Auckland Moors United FC, a newly formed grassroots football club based in Spennymoor, have kicked off the new season for boys and girls’ teams.
Starting this month, they are competing in the U10s Durham FA Sunday league, as well as an U14s girls team competing in the Russell Foster Youth League, with further plans to grow as a club over the coming years.
The club is a non-profit organisation created by parents of current players and has recently received funding from Spennymoor County Councillors, as well as support from local businesses.
Club Secretary, Simon Garrett said: “We are grateful to the councillors for providing funding that will assist us with our set-up costs, as well as new training equipment.”
Many of the players are from Spennymoor, Bishop Auckland, Ferryhill and the surrounding area and benefit from training locally at High Whitworth playing fields on Carr Street, Spennymoor.
If anyone is interested in joining Auckland Moors United, there are currently places available for U10 boys (Year 6) and U14s girls (Year 9). Contact the club at amunitedfc[@]gmail[.]com or follow them on Facebook.
