A local village has recently had a new notice board installed by Spennymoor Town Council after the funding to purchase it was provided from the Neighbourhood Budget of one of its County Councillors.
Two members of the Byers Green Village Hall Community Association, Secretary Jennifer Harbour, and committee member, Pat Hindson, had a conversation with Councillor Pete Molloy about the need of a village notice board in a more prominent location in the village to enable more of the village residents to be kept informed of village activities and events.
Jennifer said: “Towards the end of last year, after talking to people about the notice board outside the Village Hall, it was mentioned that most people walk the main street and therefore don.t always see notices outside the Village Hall.
“After talking to Councillor Pete Molloy, he offered to purchase a new board which would be placed next to the bus shelter on the High Street.
“Through time, copies of all notices will be placed inside our new notice board, so villagers do not miss out on events and clubs using the hall.
“On behalf of our association, I would like to thank both Councillor Molloy for providing the funding from his Neighbourhood Budget and Spennymoor Town Council for installing it.”
The noticed board has been installed on the edge of the village green, next to the bus shelter, and if any village residents would like to have information displayed in the notice board, they can send a message to the Byers Green, Binchester and Newfield Facebook group.
“I was very happy to support the notice board project, which will be an asset to the village, and I would like to thank Spennymoor Town Council’s Town Clerk, for his assistance in getting this project delivered,” said Cllr Molloy.
