Half Ironman for charity

Local women Gail Mcgee, from Eldon Bank, has set herself the challenge of completing a ‘half ironman’ distance event for charity.

The challenge will take place indoors at Sunnydale Leisure Centre on Saturday 6th December, when Gail aims to complete a 15km row, 83km cycle and 15km run, all on the stationary machines, within 6.5 hours.

As Gail works within mental health and suffers from thyroid disease, she will be raising funds for The Richmond Fellowship and The British Thyroid Foundation.

Gail commented, “Sunnydale Leisure Centre have kindly given me permission to display my poster and to try and raise funds on the day, as well as have people pop in to give me some encouragement.

“I’ve trained for and will be completing the event solo, so any friendly faces on the day will be welcome! Especially if they bring a pound or two.”
