Now that the days are colder and darker, Shildon Health Trainers want to help people warm up and feel lighter as the festive season creeps up. Join in a new, fun and exciting fitness class at Timothy Hackworth Primary School, Shildon, on Wednesdays between 2.15pm and 3.15pm, until 28th January.
The free weekly class provides a range of accessible non-competitive sessions that suits all levels of fitness.
A Health Trainer said, “Staying active over winter not only reduces your chances of gaining weight, it also helps energise you, reduce stress and gives you a break.”
Health Trainers are based at the Foundations Centre, Church Street, Shildon and are looking for people wanting to improve their lifestyles and opportunities. You may want to give up smoking, get fit and improve your health or want advice on healthy eating or even employment.
The Shildon Express and PCP Health Trainer project is also looking for volunteers. If you live in the Shildon area and would like to help the community become a healthier place, this opportunity is for you.
Interested volunteers are invited to take part in a Me and My Community volunteer course as well as training to become a ‘Health Trainer Champion’, which will include working with individuals and groups to increase their awareness of lifestyle issues.
Health Trainer Champions support people to achieve their health goals as well as signposting them to relevant services and local providers that can help.
