Dale & Valley Homes Seek New Board Members

Council tenants in Wear Valley have the chance to join the board of the company which manages their homes.

This is their opportunity to become involved in setting the standards for housing in the future.

Dale & Valley Homes has two vacancies for volunteer board members from among the 4,300 tenants of homes it manages in the area.

The company, an arms length management organisation, is governed by a board of 15 Volunteers: five tenants, five councillors and five independent members.

All tenants are eligible to apply, as long as they are not in serious breech of their tenancy obligations, and the successful applicants will be given training to help them in their new role.

There is also help with transport and child care during meetings for those who need it.

Dave Sanders, director of resources for the company, said: “This is a great opportunity for tenants to become involved in housing policy in Wear Valley, improving services for all tenants and making sure that Dale & Valley Homes is truly customer focussed.

“We want as wide a range of tenants as possible on our board to represent different backgrounds and age groups and, by sharing their experience, help us reach the best decisions.”

If more than two people apply for the vacancies all tenants and leaseholders whose homes are managed by the company will have a chance to vote in a postal ballot.

For more information about becoming a board member contact Dave Sanders on 01388 770915 or e-mail d.sanders@daleandvalleyhomes.co.uk.
