A charity golf competition is to be held in memory of a local man who was a popular and keen sportsman.
The Stewart Ramsay Memorial Challenge Trophy is also being held in aid of the Butterwick Hospice.
Two years ago, Stewart Ramsey developed cancer and died at a very young age. During Mr Ramsay’s battle with the illness, he was offered respite care at the Hospice.
Lee Dunn, a friend of Stewart, is organising the tournament, which will take place at Bishop Auckland Golf Club on Wednesday, September 2nd.
The tournament was due to take place in June, but unfortunately, had to be postponed due to lack of interest. Last year’s event was very successful, with 16 teams taking part and valuable funds raised for the charity.
Entry costs £120 for a team of four, which includes green fees, bacon sandwich, tea/coffee and a two course carvery at the end of the day.
Anyone interested in taking part in the event can contact the Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland on 01388 603003 or by emailing lynnalbury@butterwick.org.uk.
