Boxer steps up for Spennymoor

Annie with coaches Rob Ellis, Gav Mcgee and Stuey McCrone.

On the weekend of the 14th of June, Annie Miller, boxer and resident of Spennymoor Boxing Academy, was asked to represent England and Spennymoor in the School Tri-Nation Championships at Nottingham. Her talent was recognised following her performance in the School championships weeks previous where she secured a Silver medal and stopped her opponent in the second round.

Having only 7 bouts this was an amazing but daunting opportunity for Annie as opponents in her category were much more experienced, including her English opponent Francesca Goodman from JC’s Boxing Academy. Francesca went onto win Gold in the School championships against Annie weeks before but this did not knock Annie’s confidence. Annie stepped back in the ring with her for a second time and gave an excellent account of herself and a much improved performance showing she had taken on advice from coaches. Annie lost out on points and her opponent then went onto win the tournament. We are sure good things are coming Annie’s way and 2025 the gold can be there for the taking.

A massive good luck to Annie, Ellis Dixon, Connor Fisher, and Riley Lowery, all Spennymoor Boxers competing in the Hullbox cup this weekend.
