The U17’s played away at Washington in the 2nd Round of the League Cup and came up against a team that had won their last three games convincingly and St Mary’s started off brilliantly with a goal in the first minute off Charlie Wigley – this was followed with two more in the first half by Harry Coulthard and Luke Bailey.
The second half display was just as good with goals by Regan Johnson and Myles Swift (2) making his debut.
The defence of Owen Robinson, Jack Armstrong, Aidan Hart and Leon Roe along with goalkeeper Robbie Anderson all having terrific games. The midfield of Luke Bailey, Kieran Alderson, Charlie Wigley and Steven Taylor were also outstanding along with forwards Harry Coulthard and Regan Johnson with subs Liam Robson, Tommy Lee Maddison, Kieran Maughan, Declan Lindsay, Matthew Nicholson and Lewis Emery all doing well. The game finished 6-0 to St Mary’s with their best performance of the season and have now played 12, winning 11 and drawing one so far this season.
The U14 Kings also had a great 3-0 win to keep up their unbeaten run in the league against Richmond Town with goals from Matty Moffat (2) and Jay Ryder.
The U11 Aces had an excellent 4-2 win over Leven with goals from Jack Dixon, Danny Shaw, Ethan Bowman and Bradley Charlton.
The U10 Kings also kept up their unbeaten run in the league with a draw against Greatham with Scott Jones scoring.
The U7 Aces also played Leven in a good game with Daniel Robertson scoring.
The U7 Kings played Darlington RA in a close game.
The club enjoyed a Sports Night last Friday, 4th December with Eric Gates- Steve Howey and Craig Hignett entertaining the crowd and raising money for the U16s and U17s to go to Barcelona and Belgium in tournaments at the end of the season.
The following day, current holders, the U14 Aces, came through an exciting quarter final in the County Cup, beating Leam Rangers 4-3 with goals from Gideon Kanyondo (2), Cameron Thomas, Tom Aldsworth and Adam Dovaston.
The U14 Kings played their away game at home in the cup as the away pitch was waterlogged and had another great 4-3 win over Stockton Rangers with goals from Archy Pennington (2), Connor Jackman and Wissem Azzouzi.
The U12 Kings also had a great win over Whinney Banks by 4-1 with goals from Kyle Blacklock (3) and Sunny Richardson.
The U13’s had a close game away at South Park Rangers with Regan Nixon scoring.
The U11 Aces were very unlucky losing in the cup after extra time against first division side Whinney Banks with Kyle Emery scoring.
The U9 Kings had a good match also against Spraire Lads with goals from James Whales (3).
There are 16 games due this weekend with 8 of them at home on the 3G pitch at St John’s school.
Eight St Mary’s coaches have recently completed their Youth Module 1 Course. “This is a big commitment for these volunteers with another 24 hours of voluntary coaching and learning on top of their already busy team commitments,” said a spokesperson.
