Christine Kipling and other charity supporters will be setting up various collection points at main banks and building societies this week, so that people can drop off left over Euros which can then go towards helping dogs in Romania.
“If the lovely and kind people of Bishop Auckland can spread the Christmas spirit all the way over to Romania for these desperate dogs that would be wonderful,” said Christine.
The money will go in aid of A Better Life Dog Rescue charity who work tirelessly to save Romanian dogs from suffering.
The donations will go towards hot water bottles, waterproof coats and other items needed for the dogs to survive the harsh winter temperatures over the coming weeks. It will also pay for all the dogs’ veterinary bills – which the charity alone is funding – and their upkeep in the compound where the dogs are held before they are safe enough to travel.
The charity also needs foster carers for the dogs while more permanent safe homes are being found for them; Christine is temporarily fostering a dog called William, who will stay with her family in Bishop Auckland until he finds more permanent respite from pain and suffering.
“Please help us to help them make it this Christmas,” said a spokesperson for the charity, “they have absolutely no one else who cares enough to save them.
