Five athletes from Spectrum Roller Skating Club have skated to success in the Autumn Nationals Figure and Free Competition, held at Breydon Arena, Great Yarmouth earlier this month. The skaters scooped four golds and seven medals in total.
Coach Tracy Stevens said: “I am so proud of all of their achievements. “Thank you to everyone who has supported us. It’s a fantastic team effort and they are all truly amazing!”
Liam Stevens skated to gold in both his championship level mini men figures and free skating events.
Ella Hutchinson took gold in both level 1 figure skating and level 1a free skating, achieving a score equal to her personal best.
Nicola Stevens competed in level 4 figures and secured a bronze medal as well as gaining a free skating personal best score this year.
Lucy Owen gained a bronze medal in level 1b free skating and skated up to championship espoir level figures, also gaining a bronze medal.
Iga Wilczynska skated her very first national competition and performed a fantastic routine which gained a top ten place, achieving a very good first ever rollart score.
“It was a fun weekend,” added Tracy, “together making memories with a visit to crazy golf on Great Yarmouth sea front and a meeting with a magician. The fun and laughter continued with a visit to the rides and a go on the big wheel.
“This has been one of the very best competitions we have attended. I love to see the athletes enjoying their experiences and their hard work is very clear to see in the results, progress and improvements they have made this year.”
The team also received congratulations from Shildon’s Town Mayor, Cllr Shirley Quinn, who said: “This is absolutely fantastic news.
“I have always closely followed the progress of Spectrum Roller Skating Club and the skaters and I am so proud of them all and everything they have achieved over the years. I have watched these very talented young people grow and offer my heartfelt congratulations to them all. Blooming well done!”
