Storm Babet proved the main winner last weekend as the atrocious weather stalled Shildon AFC’s chance to increase their lead at the top of Division One after their home tie against North Shields fell foul of the conditions.
With a number of the other top sides playing in the FA Vase, Shildon could have extended their lead in the division with a positive result, but it wasn’t to be.
The postponed fixture between the sides has since been re-arranged for Saturday 30 March. The league leaders were instead given an extra week to prepare for the short trip to the Sir Tom Cowie Millfield in West Road, where they will face Crook Town this Saturday.
The Railwaymen are the only unbeaten club across both divisions of the Northern League and will be looking to maintain that statistic against the side currently occupying 14th spot. Two of Crook’s three wins this season have come at home while Shildon’s two draws were at away grounds. However, the Railwaymen are currently on a nine game winning streak, eight of which are in the league.
