Wednesday 16th July saw the opening of ‘Random’; a Young People’s Art Exhibition at Shildon Civic Hall. On display were art exhibits produced by GCSE students from Sunnydale Community College as well as St. John’s, Timothy Hackworth and Thornhill Primary Schools.
The exhibition also featured street art walls created by young people as part of the Art Alive project.
Students from Shildon primary schools visited the event and enjoyed a musical workshop, conducted by the Music Department from Sunnydale.
Prior to the exhibition, students had visited Sunnydale College to be involved in art work shops, producing musical art, and the winners were announced at a presentation held on the day.
The Town Mayor, Henry Nicholson, said it was an honour to present the awards to the schools and was amazed at the artistic talent on display at the exhibition.
First prize went to Timothy Hackworth School, second prize went to St. John’s School and third prize to Thornhill School.
The exhibition had been funded by Shildon Community First and Hays Travel, supported by Shildon Town Council, Sunnydale Community College, SCYPAN and the Art Alive Project
