The final round of touch rugby took place at Acklam recently, and Bishop again put out two sides and faced two Acklam teams; Houghton, and the newly formed Whitby.
The Reds, featuring Abigail Potts on her debut, began against Whitby, who took the lead, but the Reds equalised when Kate Hodgson produced one of her trademark interceptions; she sprinted towards the line to score the try. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.
The blues then faced Houghton who took the lead when Jan Brunskill drew the defence and passed to Erin Kelly, who proved too fast for the chasing Houghton players.
Houghton came back with an equaliser and the game again ended 1-1.
Next up, both Bishop sides faced Acklam teams. The Blues faced Acklam A and came from behind when Imogen Keirl scythed through the defence and gave the ball to Erin Kelly for the tying score. Yet again the game fished 1 – 1.
The Reds, against Acklam B, played a very tight game which was decided by a long range try by Sophie Brunskill to give them a 1-0 victory.
The reverse fixtures saw the Blues lose 2 – 0 to Acklam B, but the Reds were more successful. A fine display of pace and support play saw them triumph 4-0. Firstly Megan Maguire scored, then, following an excellent pass by Sarah Sowerby, Camille Hilditch touched down in the corner. Two tries from Chloe Allison completed the scoring.
The Blues faced Whitby next, but despite some good play by Nataia Cranswick, there was no score and the game finished 0 – 0.
The last game of the evening saw the Reds facing Houghton, who put together a fine display of passing and support running and were too strong for the Reds, ending up 3 – 0 winners.
