For months leading up to Remembrance Day, some of our residents have come together, armed with crochet hooks and knitting needles, to create a vivid sea of red poppies.
Each poppy, lovingly crafted by gifted hands, symbolises heartfelt tributes to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.
As the finishing touches were made to the poppy display, it became evident that every poppy had a story behind it. Each stitch represented an individual’s gratitude, love and respect for those who gave their lives in the line of duty.
The collective effort of Chilton residents and the Town Council has transformed the display into a breath-taking tribute that resonates with the entire community.
From the wall of poppies and the painted stones in the Memorial Garden to the stunning gown of poppies on display in Hutton House, the Remembrance Day display has not only become a striking visual representation, but it also serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by generations past.
Chilton has shown that by coming together, this proud community can create something truly special.
On Saturday 11th November, join the Mayor and Town Council to observe the two-minute silence at 11am.
On Sunday 12th November at 10am, everyone is welcome to attend St Aidan’s Church for a Remembrance Service led by Rev. Lumsdon. The service will be followed by a procession to the war memorial at about 10.30am for the laying of wreaths and reflection.
