“It was an exciting day at Hackworth parkrun on Saturday 17 June as we played host to two special visitors”, reports event directors, Neil and Diane Wood.
“We were to be visited by retiring Mayor of Shildon, Cllr Hannah Hanratty as she graciously presented us with a donation for £100. Each year during their term of office, the Mayor of Shildon hosts a number of fundraising events and at the end of their term distributes the funds to local groups and charities of their choice. We are so grateful to be selected as a recipient this year. “
“Also with us was our new parkrun Event Support Ambassador, Rachel Bowes. Event Support Ambassadors support and develop positive relationships with existing event teams as well as supporting, guiding and training new event teams, they also help in setting up and delivering new events in line with the parkrun activation process. It was lovely to meet Rachel for the first time and to know that she’s there if we ever need any assistance or guidance. Rachel also volunteered as Barcode Scanner this week.”
