The Learning Library is a local charity, based in Spennymoor, offering the loan of specialist toys and resources to anyone with additional needs within County Durham, completely free of charge.
“We are a unique service,” said new manager, Sarah Machin, “in that our outreach workers visit the homes of our members with our resources. We have over 4,000 resources available for a short-term loan, all of which are listed on our Facebook page albums. Our resources range from weighted resources, to outdoor bicycle and tricycles, to sensory lights and dark dens, to themed discovery boxes.”

“Joining really couldn’t be simpler,” said Sarah, “and for the first steps all we will need is your name, a contact number and the area you live in and the outreach worker assigned to that area will get in touch with you. The Learning Library has been established since 1987, and during this time has supported thousands of people throughout County Durham.”
