The outgoing Mayor of Spennymoor, Cllr Dean Ranyard, ended his term of office at the Annual Meeting of Spennymoor Town Council last month by formally announcing the total amount raised for the Mayor’s Charity Appeal during the 2022/23 civic year. A grand total of £9,118.74 was raised throughout the last twelve months, with this amount being split equally between the Mayor’s two chosen charitable organisations, ManHealth and Moors in the Community.
Cllr Ranyard said: “Being Mayor has been a huge honour and privilege. I am delighted to have been able to raise money for two organisations that are working right here in Spennymoor to help local people. ManHealth provide peer support groups to men struggling with depression and mental ill health. Their cause is one close to my heart having lost my Dad to suicide when I was a child. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 35 and ManHealth are doing great work to help men through their difficulties, ultimately to prevent suicide.”
“Moors in the Community are the community outreach arm of Spennymoor Town Football Club and they have being doing great work since their launch last year. They provide sporting activities to local youngsters, offer a lunchtime meal delivery service and they provide walking football sessions to older members of the community. Thank you to everyone who supported the Mayor’s Charity Appeal. Local people, organisations and businesses have been extremely generous in many ways and I’d like to thank them all for their support.”
