Spennymoor’s Town Mayor rounded off his year in office with a school tour, taking in all of the parish primaries. Cllr Dean Ranyard was proud to award each school with a commemorative crystal token to mark the historic Coronation of King Charles III. In total, he visited Tudhoe Colliery, St Charles, Rosa Street, Ox Close, North Park, Kirk Merrington, King Street, Middlestone Moor and Byers Green.
Cllr Ranyard said: “It was great to spend a little time at our fantastic primary schools, meeting with youngsters and their teachers and talking about how exciting it is to be part of such a significant moment in history. It has been one of my favourite activities during my year as Mayor and I’d like to thank all of the primary schools and their students for making me feel so welcome. At the Annual Town Meeting on Tuesday, 24 May, former Deputy Mayor, Cllr Ian Geldard was elected as Mayor for the forthcoming year.
