Spennymoor’s first Youth Fair is due to take place on Saturday 2 September from 11am-3pm at Spennymoor Youth and Community Centre.
The Fair will bring together local youth service providers and organisations for children and young people to discover on the day what’s out there for them. Organisers, Spennymoor Youth and Community Association and Spennymoor Area Action Partnership, are aiming to fill the event with as many youth activity providers as possible. Each organisation will be invited to have a stall promoting and demonstrating their activities to the children and young people attending.
The idea behind the event is to connect children and young people up with the many excellent youth organisations in the Spennymoor area, helping young people find activities which match their skills, interests and hobbies. The day will showcase, signpost, support and celebrate children and young people.
There will be performance space through the day for groups and young people to showcase their talents and demonstrate what they do as well as activities to try. Free workshops will offer tasters of meditation and confidence building as well as pamper sessions including hair, make up and nails. The Centre’s Community Café will be open providing free street food and drinks for families attending.
Activity providers already signed up include football, gymnastics, cooking, science, youth and learning clubs, baby and toddler sensory and learning, training and employability support for young people.
