On the night of 21 April, a fire broke out in Tudhoe Woods near Spennymoor, writes volunteer community journalist, Anton Weineck.
The fire is said to have broken out in the woods near St David’s Close in Spennymoor. According to a spokesperson of the County Durham and Darlington Fire Service, the emergency call was received at 10.29 pm on Tuesday 21 April.
“A fire engine from Durham Fire Station was on the scene, and the firefighters used a main jet to extinguish a burning area of scrub,” the spokesperson said.
The operation was completed fairly quickly: “The emergency services left the scene at 11.15 pm.”
According to the fire service, no one was injured. Suspicions of arson could not bee confirmed so far.
