Fire in Tudhoe Woods

The scrub fire lit up Tudhoe Woods but was dealt with quickly.

On the night of 21 April, a fire broke out in Tudhoe Woods near Spennymoor, writes volunteer community journalist, Anton Weineck.

The fire is said to have broken out in the woods near St Davidโ€™s Close in Spennymoor. According to a spokesperson of the County Durham and Darlington Fire Service, the emergency call was received at 10.29 pm on Tuesday 21 April.

โ€œA fire engine from Durham Fire Station was on the scene, and the firefighters used a main jet to extinguish a burning area of scrub,โ€ the spokesperson said.

The operation was completed fairly quickly: โ€œThe emergency services left the scene at 11.15 pm.โ€

According to the fire service, no one was injured. Suspicions of arson could not bee confirmed so far.
