Fearless launches Durham campaign to raise awareness of County Lines, grooming and exploitation

Fearless.org, the dedicated youth service of the independent charity Crimestoppers, is launching a campaign across County Durham to raise awareness of County Lines, grooming and exploitation among young and vulnerable people.

Working in partnership with Durham Constabulary, the campaign will run across social media and will empower young people to recognise the signs of exploitation and to speak up safely.

Fearless.org provides a unique online space where young people can access clear, accessible information about different types of crime, including what they look like, how they happen and how to spot the signs that something isn’t right. Crucially, the service allows young people to share information about crime 100% anonymously.

The Durham campaign will focus on reassuring young people that if they see something, know something, or can’t get something out of their head, they can speak up. Whether it’s helping a friend, supporting someone they’re worried about, or sharing concerns about suspicious or harmful behaviour, Fearless provides a safe route to make a difference.

The campaign will highlight key messages including:

  • How to spot the signs of County Lines and grooming
  • What exploitation can look like in real-life scenarios
  • How young people can use Fearless.org to report concerns safely and anonymously
  • Encouraging young people to protect each other and reach out if something feels wrong

Fern Brown, North East Regional Manager for the charity Crimestoppers, said: “Young people often see and hear things adults don’t. This campaign is about giving them the tools, understanding and confidence to speak out without fear, without pressure and without putting themselves at risk.”

“Tackling exploitation and County Lines relies on young people feeling safe to come forward and Fearless helps ensure that they know help is there and that their voice matters.”
