Members of Chilton Town Council were delighted to share in the celebrations with Ian and Evelyn Collinson on the occasion of their Diamond Wedding Anniversary.
Childhood sweethearts, who met when Ian moved to Chilton as a young boy, married on the 27 November 1965.
With snow on the ground, Evelyn fondly remembers Ian carrying her over the threshold of the church ahead of their reception in the Eden Arms and honeymoon in London.
The couple have always been active community members with Evelyn running her own hairdressing business in Chilton, while Ian travelled the world as part of the oil and gas industry, although they both lived in Texas before retiring back to the family home in Chilton.
When asked what the secret is to a happy married life, Ian said “Well, it may be a diamond wedding anniversary, but Evelyn is the real diamond.”
