Chilton Town Council as a representative body of the Chilton community, acknowledges that Avant Homes are conducting a community consultation on the development of up to 149 new homes, including 22 affordable homes, 1,2,3 and 4-bedroom homes and the provision of adaptable and wheelchair accessible new homes including bungalows.
We note that this is in advance of the statutory planning consultation.
Whereby we are pleased that Avant is conducting this pre- application consultation, we are concerned at the short window for residents to respond to what is a significant development.
Although, the area of land within the proposal has been identified in the 2019 SHLAA as appropriate for development within 0-5yrs, through our own community consultation to support the develop of the Chilton Neighbourhood Plan 2025-2035, we are aware of the high levels of public concern in relation to additional housing that will put further strain on what is already a highly pressured infrastructure (including access to public services, transport infrastructure etc) and public perception of design and quality of previous developments: concerns that we will put forward on behalf of our community when the proposal moves to formal consultation.
As a Town Council we will be happy to organise and facilitate a public meeting to provide you with the opportunity to meet residents and answer any question that they have in relation to the development- again something we will request as part of the formal planning consultation.
