Cleves Cross Primary School celebrated their 50th anniversary by inviting staff, parents and pupils with a connection to the school to an open afternoon event on Monday 3rd July. Staff had found a collection of photos and created a gallery for people to try and spot themselves, friends and teachers.
Everyone shared fond memories of their time at Cleves and some even commented in the memory book. One visitor wrote: “Loved attending school here, and now it’s a great school for my children!”.
“Happy memories from such a special school. It was lovely to see past teachers again and take a trip down memory lane,’ wrote another.
Another wrote: “Such a unique school for its high standards and ‘family’ feel among staff, parents and pupils. Thanks for bringing it all back to me!”
Year 6 children were on hand as ambassadors of the school and did a fantastic job of showing people around, sharing the many changes to the grounds and building. The school has been open since 1973 and in that time have only had three head teachers, including the current one. The school has such a family feel that teachers don’t want to leave!
The school also celebrated the awards and accreditations they have received over the year and wanted to share their successes with the community. “We continue to be a Gold status Rights Respecting School, an ‘Eco’ school for the 6th time and an International School,” said Headteacher, Christine Bentnall. “The hard work and dedication of the school team ensures that the school continues to thrive and offer fantastic opportunities for our children. We had a wonderful afternoon and would like to thank everyone who attended and made the afternoon very special.”
