Thornhill Primary School pupils enjoyed a walk with a difference when they headed to school dressed as fantasy characters on April 19th.
James Taylor, 8, won a competition to decide the theme of the walk as part of the MEGA Motion campaign and heroically led his fellow pupils to school alongside a knight in shining armour.
Pupils, parents and Local Motion staff joined them dressed as wizards, warriors and maidens as part of the Durham County Council backed scheme.
Following the walk, the knight, played by a member of the Histrionics drama company, led a special assembly at the school highlighting the issues of greener travel.
A delighted James said: “Winning the competition was brilliant, especially as I got to share the prize with the whole school. It was totally awesome walking to school with a knight in shining armour and it was definitely a day – and knight – to remember!”
