An investigation is underway after a woman sadly died following an incident outside Cockton Hill News, in Cockton Hill Road, Bishop Auckland, at around 2.30pm on Friday, March 11.
A woman in her 80s was hit by white BMW, which was travelling from the town centre towards the Watling Road crossroads, while she attempting to cross the road.
The road was closed for several hours as officers investigated the scene.
Unfortunately the woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital but sadly did not recover.
A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: “If you have any information, especially dash cam footage, we encourage you call 101 and ask to speak to DC Jayne Gatland quoting incident reference number 249 of March 11.”
