Sedgefield Water Polo Club would like to congratulate their U14 team who are the current Northern League champions, reports Paul Taylor.
The team travelled to Maltby Leisure Centre, Rotherham earlier this year, where they played a full three matches in two-metre deep water. Their first game was against Rotherham, which they won 8-5. This was followed by a 9-3 win against Sheffield Development and a subsequent 6-3 win against Sheffield to give them their very well deserved first place and gold medal.
Team manager Imelda Forrest said: “I was so proud of all of our players who played exceptionally well and did themselves and the club proud. This result is even more impressive given that five members of the team were from our level 8 beginner session. These youngsters have impressed the coaches so much at training that they were selected to take part in the tournament with members of our main club.”
In addition to Junior and Senior sessions, Sedgefield Water Polo Club now offers a beginner session on a Saturday afternoon for those wishing to try this fun and exciting sport.
