Bishop Auckland FC will once again be hosting the Wannasee live music tribute festival in 2015.
The May Bank Holiday weekend (Friday 22nd – Sunday 24th May) will feature a line up of Europe’s finest tributes to the most popular acts in the world, all brought together by organisers ‘Wannasee’. Tributes to Michael Jackson, Blondie, Madness and the Rolling Stones will perform on the Saturday, along with Take That and Robbie Williams tributes.
On Sunday the festival will be aimed more at rock fans with tributes to Kings of Leon, Metallica, Kasabian, AC/DC and Aerosmith.
Friday night is a chance for local north east bands to grace the big stage before the main event over the weekend. In addition the Friday night will have a tribute to the The Beatles.
It’s the second time Heritage Park has hosted a major music concert, and organisers are hoping even more people will attend this time.
Bishop Auckland FC Chairman Richard Tremewan, said the festival should once again prove a big boost to the whole local area. He said, “As well as bringing some big acts to our doorstep, this festival will also attract people to the area giving a boost to the local businesses. It promises to be a great weekend and we are really excited about hosting it at the club. We always said we wanted the club to be part of the community, and what better way to do that than by putting on a big festival that will get the town and visitors excited.”
Wannasee organiser John Bannan said, “We got about 1,700 people across the whole weekend earlier this year, but I think we were affected by the horrendous rain. It was a fantastic event and we got so much positive feedback, we knew we had to put it on again. These acts are some of the best in the business.”
