Walkies results in huge cash boost

butterwick2Over 86 dogs and their owners ascended on Hamsterley Forest on a fine sunny Sunday morning on 8th September, for a 3 mile dog walk through the beautiful paths and woodland glades. Excited and eager to sniff out the trail, dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds wagged their tails and put their best paws forward to complete the event.

Each dog was rewarded with a little blue inscribed bone-shaped medal to hang on their collar, along with a woofy bag filled with doggy treats, discount vouchers, disposable bags, chew sticks and biscuits.

Butterwick Hospice have been overwhelmed at the support and level of sponsorship with donations coming in from Barclays match funding, local vets, Pets at Home, Trophy Pet Foods and dog groomers, as well as pledges from the 86 entrants. It is estimated that well over £5,000 will be raised once all monies are collected.

Head of Fundraising Clair McGregor said, “This is the first time we have done the event, but you may be assured it will be an annual event as part of the Butterwick fundraising calendar. “A special extended thank you goes to all those who supported this fantastic event.”
