Bishop Auckland Town Council are appealing for donations of non-prescription medication for refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine. The ongoing situation the Ukraine continues to cause great concern.
Town Councillors are in support of helping those fleeing the devastation and are appealing for donations of non-prescription medication, personal hygiene and baby products.
These donations will be used to support refugees.
Cllr Jamie Blackburn, Deputy Mayor of Bishop Auckland said; “It’s devastating what’s happening to Ukraine and like our whole community, we want to do something to help.
“We understand that they are in need of non-prescription medication and personal care items to support the refugees arriving in Poland and the UK.
“We’ve set up a drop off point in our office at Kingsway and all donations will be gratefully received by and will be sent, along with donations from individual councillors to the Ukraine/ Poland border and to support refugees as they arrive in the UK .”
The following personal care items, baby products, and non-prescription medication such as pain killers like paracetamol, aspirin and ibuprofen. Tooth ache relief such as Bonjela or Orajel and Antihistamines
Toiletries such as shower gel, sanitary products, deodorants, anti-diarrhoea and indigestion tablets are also needed.
Other items needed are ointments such as antiseptic, antibiotic and hydrocortisone and oral rehydration sachets.
Baby Milk, nappies and wipes and infant paracetamol and Ibuprofen.
Donations of items can be dropped at the reception of the Town Council Offices, 54 Kingsway, Monday to Friday between 10am – 3pm.
