Three years for violent robber

Kieran Wynn was sentenced on Friday 13 October to three years.

An intimidating and violent Ferryhill robber has been jailed for three years.

In June this year, Kieran Wynn befriended his victim after following him home from a cashpoint in the village. The victim had just taken £30 out for a takeaway when Wynn came behind him and started chatting.

The 30-year-old followed the victim into an alleyway and asked to borrow £20. When the victim refused, Wynn grabbed him by his jacket, pinned him against the wall and said, “give me the money or I will punch you. Give me the money I have a knife”. He then grabbed the £30 and ran off whilst his victim quickly called police.

Wynn was charged the following month with robbery and breach of his restraining order. Wynn, of Bessemer Street, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing and was sentenced at Durham Crown Court on Friday 13 October to 36 months in prison.

Ferryhill Sergeant, Peter Newman said: “This was a terrifying incident for the victim who was threatened with a knife and assaulted in an alleyway. Thankfully, he was quick to call us and provide information which led us to identifying Wynn as the suspect. I hope the victim can now find some closure in knowing that he is now behind bars.”
