Bright Futures Ferryhill CIC have ended the summer on a high after hosting holiday clubs to over 750 children during the 6 weeks school holidays.
Children attending enjoyed lots of fun activities including cookery, den building, arts and crafts and even a giant water fight and slip and slide when temperatures peaked an all time high. As part of the holiday club children also headed out on two fabulous trips to Wharton park, where they enjoyed a bug hunt, and Broom forest adventure.
During the summer Bright Futures also collaborated with Ferryhill Miners football coach to deliver a 6 week football camp, consisting of training, games, tournaments and even a trip to Newcastle united football stadium tour and Sunderlands foundation of light football workshop.
“We really try to provide opportunities and experiences for children in Ferryhill that they usually wouldn’t have access to. Its important to us that our offering is inclusive and really engaging too” said director Hannah Wilkinson. “I also would like to thank Ferryhill sport and education centre for once again hosting our holiday provision on a really large scale this summer”.
Moving into the new school year Bright Futures Ferryhill are now working on their offerings and services which include a free weekly youth club every Wednesday, an OFSTED registered after school child care club, DCC local authority approved alternative provision for children struggling in mainstream school and the ever popular community pantry which offers heavily discounted food shopping to the public.
