St Mary’s presents £500 cheque

St Mary’s Juniors FC were delighted to present a cheque for £550 to the Butterwick Hospice recently, which was raised at a join sports night with Witton Park FC.

Star guests at the event, which raised a total of £2,550, were former Liverpool and England star John Barnes and comedian John Stiles.

Club Chairman Steve Coulthard commented, “It was decided we would give £550 to the Butterwick Hospice after it does such a fantastic job in the town and needs all the help it can get.”

The club is organising First Aid courses throughout the summer holidays, in conjunction with the St John’s Ambulance. Anyone aged from 6 to 16 interested in taking part should contact Debbie Woods on 07801 628 541.

The St Mary’s Under 18s squad played a great game last week against Bishop Auckland Reserves.

It was a very entertaining match with Charlie Wigley scoring for the Under 18s and all of the 16-strong squad playing well against adult opposition.
