Spennymoor resident, Simon Cowan is undertaking a solo walk up Mount Snowdon on 4 July to raise essential funds towards Spennymoor Youth Theatre Group (SYTG).
Simon, who is also a committee member of the group, is an experienced hiker, having previous climbed Ben Nevis, and hiked up a mountain to witness a live active volcano in Iceland. But this time, he has decided to put on his walking boots to help raise funds for the local charity, which relies on donations to support its activities.
“I will be setting off on the Llanberis Path up Mount Snowdon,” said Simon, “and whilst I get prepared for my walk, I would like to ask the lovely people of this world to help our amazing kids at SYTG to support me by sponsoring my walk. Every little helps. Your donations will go towards the costs of our up coming shows, including Here We Go Again, taking place at Spennymoor Town Hall in July.”
Spennymoor Youth Theatre Group was formed in 1995 as a non-profit charity organisation to meet the needs of the young people of Spennymoor. “We meet every Friday for rehearsals to perform two shows a year,” said Simon, “and we have won numerous awards from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association, from best production to best individual in show.”
If you would like to make a donation to the cause you can do so here.
