This was a one-sided affair. Even more so than the 6-0 scoreline suggests, with Shildon creating several more chances than they converted – including one shot off the post and a missed penalty from Mark Hudson, which brought to an end his 100% record.
That said, Shildon, for all their dominance, went in to the half time break with a two goal lead consisting of two fortunate strikes.
Paul Connor, who had seen one shot on the turn cannon off the upright, this time found the ball cannoning off his shin and deflecting past the helpless Andrew Hunter in the Hebburn goal.
Then, on the stroke of half time, Darren Richardson watched his cross sail over Hunter and under the bar.
In the second half, the floodgates opened, with first Ben Wood and then Darren Richardson with a thunderbolt from the edge of the area adding to the scoreline.
Paul Connor notched his second with an easy tap-in and Wood then collected his own brace with an emphatic finish.
The 6-0 win sees Shildon up to second in the league table with a series of away matches to come.
