Chloe Fairclough on her way to receiving her trophy for 2nd place in the juniors green race.Shildon’s senior club runners took to the roads again this week in The Great North Run. John Gray, club treasurer and one of only a handful of runners to complete every Great North Run, maintained his fine record for another year, finishing in 2.41:37.

David Johnston led the way for the Shildon athletes, finishing in 1.42:13 with Andrew Griffith following in 1.44.13.

Darren Ross finished in 2.06:02, Sarah Tilley in 2.34:19 and Jeff Miller in 3.05:38.

Chris Griffith was Shildon’s sole entrant in the 5k race and completed the course in 20.39.

Representing the youngsters in the junior version of the race, Chloe Fairclough (17.20) finished 2nd female in the u11 girls earning herself £20 prize money along with a trophy.

Jade Hall also ran well in the same race finishing in 20.39

Back in Shildon, Hackworth Park run no.27 saw Amy Etherington (19.36) finish 2nd overall and 1st female. David Beadle recorded a new pb (21.39), as did Edward Murphy (22.35) and Helen Race (26.59).

Shildon Running & Athletic club is open to anyone from the age of 8 upwards.
