The annual County Durham Together Awards took place last week, celebrating the unsung heros within the community who are working hard to make Durham better.
Recognising many incredible contributions to the region, the nominees made their way to Hardwick Hall in Sedgefield for a glitzy evening, where groups and individuals had been carefully selected by Durham council and the Northern Echo.
Our own Shildon Alive won the highly acclaimed title of ‘Community/Voluntary Group of the Year.’
Paula Nelson told the Crier: “I was delighted to accept the award on behalf of all the hardworking staff and volunteers at Shildon Alive.
“We thrive to work hard to help all our community in and around Shildon and it’s great to be recognised for the work that we do.”
Other winners included Angel Trust in Bishop Auckland winning ‘Charity of the Year.’
