There have been several recent sightings of the Boar, but Ferryhill residents need not panic, reassures Donald Park. This is in fact a badge bearing the Boar’s head and has been handed out to all members of 1st Ferryhill Scout Group as part of the commemorations to mark the Group’s 75th Anniversary.
As Group Scout Leader Malcolm Turnbull explains: “The badge was a feature on the neckers many years ago and finally we have been given permission from the Scout Association for it’s return. I am proud to see the re-introduction of this tradition”.
The presentation of the new badge took place during a pizza party for all members. It was followed by an open day which featured photos, memorabilia, and artefacts depicting Scouting through the ages and. The day was very well attended by young and old alike with many happy memories being recounted.
