The under 10’s produced one of the performances of the round in the TJFA league cup, beating higher league opposition, Hardwick Youth, 4-2.
Kane Hopwood (2) James Rusby (1) and Ellie Geary (1) were the scorers as the team progressed to the next round. Jacob Race picked up the MOM award for the second consecutive week.
The newly formed under 11’s showed their promise with a 7-1 victory over Darlington RA. Having only their second game together, there are positive signs for the future.
Cole Layfield (4) Anth Jary (1) Michael Gaffney (1) and Kian Dixon (1) scored the all important goals, with Anth being awarded the MOM.
The under 7’s continued their fine start to the season with a 12-2 win over Newton Aycliffe Juniors.
John Taylor showed his talent as he hit 7, with Noah Fawcett (4) and Charlie Brown (1) also on the score sheet.
The MOM award was given to Noah for his all round display.
The under 11’s had heartbreak as they lost 8-7 to Redcar Athletic Blues, after extra time. Leading 4-2, an injury to the keeper required one of the outfield players to go in goal, and Redcar pegged them back to 4-4 at the final whistle. With 3 further goals apiece, in extra time, Redcar conjured up a winner in the last minute.
Shildon’s scorers were Callum Brown (4) Callum Griffiths (1) Will Dixon (1) Harry Spark (1).
The under 8’s played host to Seaton Carew Juniors.
After an even first half (2-2) Seaton handled the deteriorating conditions better in the second half and ran out 6-2 winners. Shildon scorers were Ben Moore (1) and Jack Leighton (1), with Ben also being awarded the MOM.
The under 13’s played their first game of the season on the senior’s Dean Street pitch, against higher league opposition, Fishburn Park.
Despite a valiant effort, they were beaten 8-0, although the scoreline did not reflect the game.
Adam Campbell and Niall Higham were jointly awarded the MOM.
